A Hamptons home goes modern - and green - inside and out. New homeowners in East Hampton, NY had an ambitious wish list for a planned remodel: better bathrooms, a larger master suite, a new kitchen and enhanced outdoor spaces for entertaining. The couple, with two young daughters and careers in finance, worked with LEED - accredited architect Joseph Eisner to overhaul the 1980s house that was in dire need of updating.

A green renovation of this suburban Westchester home transformed a large part ot the house into a well-lit, functional space without enlarging the overall footprint. The complete reconfiguration of the basement and a portion of the first floor transformed a former playroom and dark basement into a space that includes an airy and spacious atrium with small balcony, a gym, home office, bar, bathroom, children's play area, guest room, sun room, children's study, and a living room, creating a dimension of the house that didn't exist before.
